Plot[]

Spoiler warning! - This article contains plot details about the events of this story.

Chapter 1[]

An ordinary day at Furinkan High School takes a sharp turn to the extraordinary when Ranma Saotome begins hitting Akane Tendo whenever she tries to hit him, often launching her into painful (if comical) situations. It quickly becomes apparent that Ranma no longer remembers who Akane is at all. Ukyo Kuonji is delighted by this turn of events and gets ready to start showering Ranma with her usual brand of food and affection. A flashback reveals that Ranma was targeted by Shampoo as he slept, who used the Xi Fa Xiang Gao on him to wipe his memories of Akane, much like she once did to Akane.

Chapter 2[]

Shampoo arrives at Furinkan, hoping to get closer to Ranma. Akane attacks Ranma yet again and is punted into a Martial Arts Groping championship. Nabiki Tendo tries to force things to go back to the status quo, only to realise that Ranma's complete inability to form even short-term memories of Akane means he has no emotional context to Shampoo's scheme, so he no longer cares about having his memories altered. Shampoo and Ukyo call an informal truce to focus on seducing Ranma now that he's forgotten about Akane. They also convince Ranma to let them give him social interaction lessons to protect himself from Nabiki's usual lies and slander, which is only partially an excuse for him to go on dates with them. Tatewaki Kuno attempts to molest Akane when he finds her restrained and barely dressed in the Furinkan nurse's office.

Chapter 3[]

Akane's attempts to make her usual violent punishments of Ranma continue to result in her being painfully dispatched. Ranma has a very enjoyable date with both Shampoo and Ukyo. Soun Tendo and Genma Saotome mistakenly come to believe Akane is trying to learn a new swimming-based technique and set to teaching her in the same "training from hell" manner that they would normally teach Ranma. Shampoo and Ukyo demonstrate the validity of their claims that knowing how to talk to people can be legitimately useful by talking Kodachi Kuno out of a fight, though they are unaware that she believes that they are now training Ranma to be a more fitting spouse for her. Kasumi Tendo joins in on her father's plan to improve Akane's martial arts by attacking Akane whenever she enters the kitchen. Ranma stops Ukyo and Shampoo from fighting when their tempers finally flare up from each other's presence, only to run away in conditioned terror after he touches their breasts by accident in the process.

Chapter 4[]

Akane ends up captured by a true perverted freak, only to be rescued by Happosai, though he takes dozens of photos of Akane's naked form in the process. Shampoo and Ukyo catch the frightened Ranma, and their showering him with physical affection rather than hitting him for touching them intimately further starts driving them into the place that Akane once occupied in his heart. Nabiki attempts to get revenge on Shampoo by making a phone call to the department of immigration. A chain of freak events leads to Hikaru Gosunkugi accidentally placing curses of impotency and flea infestation on Ryoga Hibiki. The eccentric British aristocrat and hunter, Sir Wilfred Hapsbey, makes his first appearance, revealing he has been given permission to hunt the "Pesky Panda of Nerima" - aka, Genma Saotome. Ranma's immediate response is to defend his father, but he can't bring himself to do it after Shampoo and Genma point out that Genma is literally responsible for all of the misery in Ranma's life. Ryoga provokes a vendetta with Happosai by accidentally and unrepentantly destroying his pornographic pictures of Akane.

Chapter 5[]

Ryoga is viciously beaten up by Happosai, which ends in Ryoga in pig form stumbling into a Martial Arts Barbeque Cook-Off. Nabiki has her meeting with the officer from the department of immigration, but gets the unnerving feeling that things didn't go as she intended. Akane continues to suffer humiliation as she ends up increasingly naked in the public street whilst being harassed by Happosai and Tatewaki Kuno. Sasuke steals all of Nabiki's cached information for Kodachi. Ranma, Shampoo and Ukyo enjoy a lovely date at a local amusement park, despite accidentally buying a roast pig on a spit that turns out to be a still-living Ryoga and a brief attempted attack by Akane. Nabiki discovers her blackmail cache has been utterly emptied and goes to Kasumi about it, only for Kasumi to blow her little sister's mind by revealing that their mother Kimiko Tendo isn't dead, she merely faked it to get away from Soun, and in fact she's been living close by in disguise for the last ten years. In fact, the old woman who keeps splashing Ranma turns out to be one of her disguises, as she's a master of the art, and she's using it to try and weaken Ranma's curse to ultimately cure it through repeated splashes of holy water. Mrs. Tendo also turns out to be an old teacher of Ukyo's, and still actively teaching Tatewaki Kuno, as well as Azusa Shiratori's biological mother, making Azusa a sister (or at least half-sister) to the Tendo girls. Akane finally makes it home... now the designated bride of a little boy, whose hand she unintentionally won by accidentally winning a Martial Arts Childishness tantrum battle.

Chapter 6[]

Akane has a minor breakdown over how hard her life has gotten. Ryoga vows revenge on Happosai, only to discover that Happosai has used the Ultimate Weakness Moxibustion on Ryoga to try and force him to replace the pornographic pictures of a naked Akane that Ryoga destroyed. Kasumi takes Nabiki to their mother's new home, where she casually greets Mikado Sanzenin with a kiss. She blows Nabiki's mind again by revealing that she's a multi-gold medal champion figure skater, who has been competing in the Olympics since she was seven. In fact, those are only the start of her assembled trophies, which reveal her talents include fencing, naginata-ryu, martial arts cooking, soccer, rifle-shooting, and being both an being an "Honorary Devil-Hunter Apprentice" and shoujo romance doujinshi writer. And Nabiki never noticed any of these things. Akane, on a shopping trip for her latest culinary abomination, loses patience with her child-groom and beats him bloody, causing her to be arrested for child abuse. Nabiki regains consciousness in Kasumi's room at their mother's house, and Kasumi explains how she moved all her things of value here when Soun began pawning them for money, and likewise that she gave up trying to be anything but "the homemaker" at the Tendo Dojo because nobody appreciated or paid attention to her. Soun is visited by men from the department of immigration, who reveal Akane's new criminal status and that he and his family have been "revealed" to be Korean immigrants and thus subject to all of the strict laws (and social antipathy) against such people. As Soun breaks down in shock, the men leave, with the revelation that Soun isn't really a Korean, but this is the revenge of the chief inspector for what Nabiki did to his daughter during her brief stay at Furinkan. Genma breaks Akane out of training to subject her to his twisted idea of swimming training, only to be interrupted by Sr. Hapsbey. Nabiki finally meets her mother again, and gets yet another bombshell dropped on her; she and her sisters aren't Soun's biological daughters, Soun having been left infertile after all the groinal abuse he suffered during his training under Happosai. Instead, their biological father is Dr. Tofu Ono (or, rather, Dr. Tofu Ono Shiratori; Azusa is their younger fourth sister). Nabiki faints, and Kasumi and Kimiko tell Tofu that Nabiki has been completely oblivious to both her true parentage and her status as the least talented of the Shiratori sisters for years. Tofu Shiratori is revealed to have quit his chiropractic job to instead run one of the largest film studios in Japan, which is actually his family business. It's further clarified that Tofu merely donated sperm for Kimiko to conceive Kasumi, Nabiki and Akane, but they were married after Kimiko divorced Soun and faked her death to get away from him.

Chapter 7[]

Cornered in a seedy bar, Genma tries to think about how to escape from Sir Wilfred Hapsbey. Kim Chi, the Master of Martial Arts Swine Cookery who tried and failed to serve Ryoga's pig-form spit-roasted, hunts "P-chan" down in the name of avenging his dishonor for having been forced to refund Ukyo when she bought P-chan and found he was still alive. Nabiki wakes up and Tofu Shiratori attempts to convince her of her lack of relationship to Soun Tendo. Akane, unaware of how the Tendo family name has been disgraced by a frame-job, escapes from the hospital and, dazed, in pain and full of rage, roams the streets aimlessly. Sasuke delivers Nabiki's stockpile of information to Kodachi, and warns her that Ranma may be tied to the Tendo clan more firmly than she thought. Nodoka happily wanders the streets, reflecting on how Genma isn't Ranma's biological father, being little more than eunuch, and how convenient the training trip was as an excuse for her to carry on with her real lover and Ranma's true biological father. Especially because it meant she no longer had to cover up her many pregnancies. She feels no shame in being a married man's mistress, especially as her lover's family have graciously raised her children alongside the man's legitimate four children. She wonders if she should talk to Kimiko about how to fake her death to get away from Genma with Ranma and move in with her lover, his wife, and all of Ranma's siblings and half-siblings - such Ranma's half-brother, Mikado Sanzenin. She is interrupted from her musings when she hiccups and, with the ease of familiarity, deduces she may be pregnant. Again. She goes in search of a drug store to make sure. Ryoga catches Ranma and tries to attack him in revenge, only to be beaten unconscious effortlessly, due to the Ultimate Weakness Moxibustion. Shampoo takes advantage to apply a special skin lotion that permanently undoes the physical toughness granted by the Bakusai Tenketsu, before erasing the move from his memory with the Xi Fa Xiang Gao. She explains to Ranma that as Ryoga has proven he is no ally to the Joketsuzoku, they will not let him continue to (ab)use one of their secret martial arts techniques. Ranma starts to get worried about himself and his own knowledge of the Kachu Tenshin Amaguriken and Hiryu Shoten Ha, but Shampoo simply embraces him tightly and assures him that as her husband he has every right to know such moves. With his arms full of snuggly Chinese Amazon, Ranma quickly forgets his worries. Kasumi reflects on what Nabiki has just told her about Akane's plans to reawaken Ranma's memories of her by acting like the cute girl he fell for. Her opinion of Akane's success is very negative, which soon turns into a long mental denouncement of Akane's myriad character flaws. She comes to the conclusion that Akane has failed the Tendo/Saotome engagement and she will never win Ranma's heart back. But she still considers that honor does demand Ranma marry a "Tendo" daughter, and decides to make other arrangements, glancing at Azusa as she does.

Chapter 8[]

Kodachi, having finished studying everything relating to Ranma and Genma in Nabiki's files, muses over what she's read. She comes to the conclusion that Genma has utterly besmirched Ranma's honor, which is Very Serious Business in Japanese society, and that the only hope Ranma has of even beginning to get himself out from his multiple honor debts is if Genma ends up dead. The more she considers everything, and Genma's continued ongoing efforts to drag Ranma down, the more certain she becomes that a key part of her desire to move forward and become Ranma's wife will be arranging for Genma to commit seppuku... or at least be believed to have committed seppuku... At Shampoo & Ukyo's nudging, Ranma puts his training in "verbal martial arts" to the test by attempting to convince Kuno to give up his vendetta against Ranma. It takes some work, especially because Ranma has such a hard time swallowing the fact he's feigning submission to Tatewaki Kuno of all people, but it ultimately works, with Ranma convincing Kuno that it's Nabiki to blame for Kuno being unable to win the girl Kuno loves.

Chapter 9[]

Ryoga has a very embarrassing encounter with a proctologist about the splinters from that wooden roasting spit. Genma flees from Sir Wilfred Hapsbey, wounded but by no means dead yet, cursing Ranma's failure to show up as a convenient scapegoat. Returned to prison, Akane continues to dig herself deeper by accidentally convincing the prison psychiatrist that she's insane and a danger to public safety. Dr. Tofu appears to offer his own medical opinion, and asserts that Akane should be placed in a mental institution. After Akane breaks down the door and attacks her former doctor and one-time crush, only to be subdued, the prison psychiatrist agrees.

Chapter 10[]

Ukyo takes Ranma to see Kimiko Shiratori, explaining her status as the presumed-dead Mrs. Tendo and as Ukyo's favorite teacher. Ukyo, reluctantly, goes to get Shampoo to bring her to meet Kimiko as well. Kasumi and Nabiki all get a series of immense shock when it turns out that not only does Ranma know Kimiko, who encouraged him to pursue his artistic side talents, but Ranma is actually two of the most legendary artists of modern Japan; the visual artist Glistening Firebrand and the author Flowerpetal Rain. Ranma had no idea that his "dabblings" in the artistic fields had actually made him incredibly beloved and wealthy due to his skill and the mystique of his origins. Even Kimiko was unaware of her one-time student's status as the mysterious and much-loved artist. The shock is so great that Kimiko and her daughters all faint. Ryoga stumbles into Honolulu, cursing his lot in life as a rain storm turns him into P-chan... and he walks right into a trap set by the vengeful Kim Chi. Akane, having escaped from hospital, attacks what she thinks is Ranma. It turns out to be one of the hideously ugly ninja-women from the Red-Hot Kunoichi Tea House, who decides to take her as a new student. Genma attempts to hide from Sir Wilfred Hapsbey by hiding in a gay/transgender bar. Ukyo and Shampoo prepare to finally duel, only to be interrupted by Kodachi, who declares that they must all work together to save Ranma from an honor-related crisis. At the Shiratori house, Ranma starts sketching the unconscious mother and her daughters, whilst reflecting that he has ruined everything for himself by revealing his artistic inclinations to two girls he's convinced hate him, given he knows his father will punish him severely if he learns he's been sketching or painting again. He finishes the sketch and then starts to write a farewell letter, planning on fleeing the city once it's done...
