“ There's a thunderstorm over Nerima and Ranma and Akane are practicing in the Dojo when it's struck by lightening. Akane was leaping at Ranma at the time and catches the full force of the bolt, throwing her into a coma. Ranma sinks into extreme depression at his failure to protect her.[2] ”
